Laverne and Shirley

We have a German Shepherd named Laverne.  She is a silver sable and is just awesome.  Laverne is huge.  She loves to talk to you and walk between your legs.  She also loves to be on top of anything and everything.  I can't count how many times I've gone into the back yard to find her on top of the table.  We also have a shepherd mix named Shirley.... Shirley loves her Laverne.  She cries and freaks out whenever her and Laverne are separated. Laverne hasn't ever really walked well.  We have taken her to the vet many times and also have had a massage therapist come out many times to help her.  They all said that she was just still growing and probably pulled a muscle digging or playing with Shirley.  A few weeks ago I noticed that she was starting to cross her back legs when she walks.  In German Shepherds, this is a sure sign of hip dysplasia.  Now,  we have had other German Shepherds that we have lost at an early age beca...

Alone

I'm so proud of myself tonight. I went out and had dinner and a drink alone and suffered through it alright. I enjoyed it for the most part, other than the waiters looking at me with pity and wonder. After dinner, I decided to treat myself to a little shopping at my favorite store. Lots of good deals were found as usual. As I was standing at the end of a long like, an employee snuck up behind me and told me to continue on to the service desk to check out. As I did so, who was to walk in but an x of mine and his new girlfriend. Evening ruined. I have not a clue if he saw me but what does it matter? As I was walking to my car, a lump in my throat formed and tears threatened to fall. But then I though.... He broke your heart, how dare he. He does NOT deserve your tears ! So I didn't cry! For once, I didn't cry!!! So now I'm sitting at home, in a big comfy chair, in my comfy pjs, watching me some good Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movies, feeling very accomplished!  One st...
